Company History
The independent nonprofit corporation, known as Eskaton, had its beginnings in the 1960s when several members of the Disciples of Christ Church in Oakland formed a charitable organization to provide health care, housing and other services to seniors and families. The new organization's name, Eskaton, was drawn from the Greek language and interpreted to mean the "beginning of a new age".
Today, Eskaton has its corporate offices in the Sacramento suburb of Carmichael, and, from there, it serves seniors through more than 30 facilities and programs in northern California. Eskaton's services encompass multiple retirement living options, assisted living, memory care, respite care, rehabilitation and skilled care, home care services, adult day health care, community information and assistance and a telephone reassurance program.
As a nonprofit company, Eskaton has a community-based board of directors all of whom volunteer their time to ensure that the company's current operation and future growth are built on a solid foundation of high service quality and sound fiscal management.
