Full Job Description

All Radiologists participate in an agreed Team Job Plan allowing for prospective (cross) cover for core modalities.

The successful applicant will be expected to undertake general reporting, fluoroscopy, ultrasound and cross-sectional imaging.

The candidate will also be expected to participate in the neonatal radiology service at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

All Radiologists participate in an agreed Team Job Plan allowing for prospective (cross) cover for core modalities.

There are also arrangements in place to provide paediatric reporting for other hospitals in the region.

On-call: the successful applicant will participate in a 1 in 10 Consultant on call rota. This is a 1st on call rota without regular junior support currently attracting a 3% on call availability supplement.

The Department of Radiology is on the ground floor of the hospital. It currently has three Philips general DR rooms, one Philips C Arm fluoroscopy suite, an ultrasound suite with 4 Philips Ultrasound machines, a Philips 64 slice spiral C.T. scanner, a Philips 1.5T M.R. scanner, a Hologic bone densitometer, a Newtom Cone Beam CT OPG, an EOS 2D/3D erect scanner and a Radionuclide Imaging Department with a Siemens SPECT CT.

On site, within the Theatre complex, there is a Philips 3T intraoperative MRI scanner, two Philips bi-plane suites one for Vascular Intervention and one for Cardiac work. A Siemens Zeego Hybrid Theatre is also in the theatre complex primarily for spinal work but also for combined complex IR/Surgical cases. A portable ultrasound is exclusively available for IR use.

The department has an excellent and close working relationship with the surrounding adult centres, particularly with the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery, the Liverpool Foundation Trust (incorporating the Royal Liverpool Hospitals, Aintree Hospital) and the Liverpool Heart and Chest hospital. This allows seamless transitional care, collaborative working and a collegiate approach to patient care throughout the Mersey region and the wider North-West of England.

An outline of a typical weekly timetable of programmed activities is as follows, but this will be flexible depending on service needs and the availability of other staff.

8.5 sessions of DCC to ideally include at least:
1 session of Ultrasound,

1 session of screening,

1 session of Cross-sectional imaging.

1 session of reporting

1 session for cross cover

1 session in lieu of on call (off site)
